Some of you have received a text or email about your child's attendance. We are working on the new addition to our powerschool program. Yesterday there was a glitch that sent it out. South Hutchinson Elementary and South Hutchinson Police Department are teaming up for our annual Dodge for a Cause. This year we are are raising money fo the Gabrielson Family. Matt is a police officer with SHPD, Kelsey is a secretary for SHE & they have two beautiful daughters. Layla is 5 years old and Elleigh 4 months old. Elleigh was born with a heart condition that has required surgery. They are staying with family in Denver while they continue doctor visits and wait on another surgery. We would like to help them offset some of their expenses. If you would like to contribute to the Gabrielson family please send the donations to the school labeled Dodge for a Cause.
Games will be played at SHE and Journey Church on Wednesday Feb. 7.
Due to the large number of students and police officers playing we cannot accommodate other visitors at the games. SHE will post pictures and videos of the day. Thank you for understanding.
ALL students will receive free screening, unless an OPT OUT form is returned. Other services such as cleaning, fluoride, and sealants can be provided with returned consent form.

While the condition of many of the main roads has improved, side and county roads remain problematic. The U.S.D. 309 Nickerson-South Hutchinson Schools will have a 2-hour Late Start for Thursday, January 11, 2024, to allow for safer commuting in the daylight. Go slow and be careful out there.
Doors open at 9:40---school starts at 10:10----NO 3 yr. old preschool---Prek 4 yr. wrap and preschool will run with doors opening at 9:40-----Breakfast will be served----

With the increase in various illnesses, we wanted to remind you of the 309 Illness/Covid protocols.
Covid protocol - Positive Covid Test (at home or at medical facility), please report the following to your child's school or attendance as soon as possible - 1) date symptoms started; 2) what the symptoms are; and 3) where they were tested. May return to school on DAY 6 (remember that the 1st day of symptoms is considered Day ZERO) as long as they are fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT fever reducing medication and not still exhibiting severe symptoms. Upon return, must wear a mask through Day 10.
Did you know Nickerson-South Hutchinson Schools has a grant to offer the following free tests?
COVID rapid antigen test is self administered by swabbing the nasal lining. Results are available within 15 minutes.These tests can be given at the school to students and staff who are symptomatic or want to test due to close contact or symptomatic.Parents must give verbal permission for their student to be tested. The tests are available to our community, staff, and parents to take home and can be picked up at our school buildings or central office. Please call ahead to verify availability.
BD Veritor COVID/Flu Combo Test is a rapid test that is self administered by swabbing the nasal lining. Results are available within 20 minutes. This tests for COVID, Influenza A, and Influenza B. This test is performed at the school and can not be taken at home. Parents must give verbal permission for a student to be tested but is available to our community, parents, and staff. Please call ahead to verify availability.
Parents/Guardians are requested to report the physician’s diagnosis to the school. As required by law, nursing services will report communicable diseases to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and/or the Reno County Health Department.
